The riddles in this one actually made my son stop and think instead of just guessing, which was nice for a kids' game. We got through the whole castle mystery in about 40 minutes, so it's perfect for a rainy afternoon. The costume party setup got my kids way more into it than I expected.

We played this at my daughter's Halloween sleepover and the costume party theme had all four kids arguing over who got to be the scariest monster. The riddles are actually clever enough that I had to think twice on a couple, and it runs about 45 minutes before they lose focus.

The riddles kept my 9-year-old genuinely stumped for a solid hour, which never happens with kids' games. The costume party theme at Castle Shudderstone made the puzzle-solving feel like an actual story instead of just cards on the table. Only complaint is we burned through it in one sitting.
